Bolton defender Sam Ricketts has said that a lot rests on the match against Wigan Athletic during the weekend.

Bolton Wanderers are struggling for form in the Premier league. As a result of it, they find themselves down in the relegation zone of the Premier League.

Even though they are just one point away from safety, there is a real chance that they could still get relegated to the Championship. Bolton still have a number of matches to play against the bottom clubs. They will be beginning with the match against Wigan athletic during the weekend.

It is a match in which Sam Ricketts is targeting for three points because it would provide them with a great starting point for building on the second half of the season. Wigan athletic are in no better position than Bolton Wanderers, as they find themselves from bottom of the Premier League.

They can, however, be slightly happy given that they are just five points away from safety. They are expected to provide intense competition to Bolton despite this match being away from home. Wigan athletic have not performed well at home this season, while they have taken a few points on the road. The best Premier League betting online place Bolton as slim favourites to get the points this time around.

As a result, Sam Ricketts is of the opinion that the home match against Wigan Athletic is going to be crucial for the Premier league survival. The match is also a local derby and things are expected to be fiesty. “Next weekend was always going to be a big game, because it’s a local derby, and with the situation both teams find themselves in. It’s going to be chop and change [at the bottom] all the way to the end of the season,” Ricketts said ahead of the match in the pre-match press conference.

Bolton will be able to maintain their position ahead of Wigan athletic even with a defeat.
