Nathan Bryne insists Wigan Athletic have nothing to be worried about

Posted on September 28, 2019 in WAFC

Wigan Athletic winger Nathan Bryne has said that the Latics have nothing to be worried about despite a slow beginning to the Championship campaign. Paul Cook’s side started the season with a stunning triumph over Cardiff City but they have since succumbed to four league defeats on the bounce.

As such, there are already question marks whether they can avoid the dreaded drop but Bryne has insisted that the performances should get better, once the new players are able to adjust to the club’s style of play, he told: “It is going to take some time for us all to get used to each other’s play, with so many new players.

“There were positives to take from the performance at Middlesbrough, and we have to take that into Saturday’s game at QPR. We’re all aware of the away record, and it’s something we’re desperate as a group to put right. If we carry on going and get that continuity in the side, the boys aren’t too worried.”

Wigan’s woes have basically come on the road since their Championship comeback and they have managed to attain just one triumph on the travels through the calendar year. So, it is not surprising that they have started the season with three away league defeats and hopefully, Cook can find a solution to the problem before they find themselves in the relegation dogfight.

The Latics are scheduled to face Barnsley at home before the international break and the game offers them with a chance to return to winning ways. Wigan have generally had the better of Barnsley with just one league defeat since 1990 and they should fancy scoring maximum points with the Tykes not holding a good record on the road either. Cook’s men are currently occupying the 22nd position on the table with three points on the board.
