Gavin Massey located Windass with a good pass and he made an attempt that was well saved by Kieffer Moore.  Windass continued to have a good opening half finding space to test Camp into making a sharp save.

Birmingham settled into the game after the early storm and the match became stale with neither side having much joy in creating chances. Dan Crowley had the first shot for the away team who struggled with their shooting all night.

The second half began in a similar fashion as both teams continued with their lack of coordination in the final third. The game seemed destined to end in a draw before Anthony Pilkington tried a hopeful long-range shot that managed to squirm past Lee Camp for the opening goal.

The goal which was a horrible goal to concede by Camp ensured that Birmingham was now chasing the game.

Birmingham manager Pep Clotet brought on youngsters Odin Bailey and Jude Bellingham in search for the equalizer. However, the youngsters failed to have meaningful impact in the game as Wigan ran 1-0 winners.

With the result, the Latics moved two places to 17th on the Championship table and registered their third victory of the campaign.

Birmingham City goalkeeper Lee Camp allowed a long-range Anthony Pilkington effort to slip under his body to gift Wigan Athletic victory at the DW Stadium. Birmingham remain three places above in 14th and will be hoping to improve in subsequent matches
